William Patry’s copyright blog shuts downAugust 3rd, 2008 William Patry, senior copyright counsel at Google, has decided to end his blog.
"End of Blog"
One of the two reasons he gives for winding up:
The Current State of Copyright Law is too depressing.
Much like the U.S. economy, things are getting worse, not better. Copyright law has abandoned its reason for being: to encourage learning and the creation of new works. Instead, its principal functions now are to preserve existing failed business models, to suppress new business models and technologies, and to obtain, if possible, enormous windfall profits from activity that not only causes no harm, but which is beneficial to copyright owners. Like Humpty-Dumpty, the copyright law we used to know can never be put back together again: multilateral and trade agreements have ensured that, and quite deliberately.

This article in the International Herald Tribune goes along with what Mark Steyn writes about in his new book "America Alone"
"With an influx of immigrants, the country has been struggling to maintain what it considers its Dutch soul, and Gustafsson was one of many here who thought the skating experience enabled the Dutch to reconnect with their identity. "There were only Dutch people on the ice," he said. "I saw no people of Arab descent."

I feel that the vast number of democracies in the world now struggle with being overloaded with immigrants who differ on the the idea to close ranks with that countries culture and instead work against the grain. What is it that Michael Savage has preached for years...
" Borders, Language and Culture"!

BIG BANK with a little bank inside! OMG!
That used to be a slogan for a large bank in Chicago I used... They were one of the first to have a 24 hour ATM inside... Really impressed my dates when I could go inside this absolutely beautiful stately bank downtown in the financial district and go inside at 8 or 9pm and pull out a few fresh twentie$!!

But these articles below linked for you are very disheartening!

and from what I have learned that there is hundreds of Trillion of dollars leveraged on derivatives by the banks in the world...What good is anything now............?

Look at these Two Big Banks..and the amounts being tossed around which like I say may be peanuts soon!

QUOTE ME!

Was there ever such an autumn? And yet there was never such a panic and hard times in the commercial world. The merchants and banks are suspending and failing all the country over, but not the sandbanks, solid and warm, and streaked with bloody blackberry vines. You may run upon them as much as you please--even as the crickets do, and find their account in it. They are the stockholders in these banks, and I hear them creaking their content.

-Henry David Thoreau , Journal, October 14, 1857
